About The Edge
OUR History
Welcome to The Edge! The Edge began in March 2006 as a non-denominational, Christian e-outreach for college students and young professionals. We recognize that the world in which you live is increasingly hostile toward Christians and we want to support you. We connect via weekly (biweekly during summer) newsletters containing inspirational Biblical truths in a unique, engaging, and highly-varied style. We discuss a wide range of topics and explore the views of many acclaimed authors, theologians, and researchers. Everything is well researched and referenced. We hope to empower you to think through a variety of relevant issues on a deeper level, perhaps in a renewed way, thereby enabling you to stand stronger in your faith and live confidently for the Lord, within a community of support - The Edge.
Why The Name?
It is important that you stay grounded spiritually as you live out your life and make daily choices, some of which will have long-lasting implications. You will find that if you seek God’s purpose and direction for your life, He will be faithful and will infuse you with wisdom, innate joy, and peace, unlike anything the world can offer you. Why should you care what God says? Why should it matter? It matters a great deal!
Go to the center of your Bible - Psalm 119: 98-100, 104 - and read
“Your commands make me wiser than my enemies for they are ever with me.
I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.
I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.
I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.”
If you know what God says, the Bible promises you WILL BE WISER than your enemies, HAVE MORE INSIGHT than ALL your teachers, and HAVE MORE UNDERSTANDING than the elders. That’s some promise! Learn more about what God’s Word says. Let the issues we raise simmer in your mind. Reflect on them from different angles. God’s Word definitely gives you an EDGE in every aspect of life. And we endeavor to explore God’s Word with every newsletter.
A second reason we chose the name is that you are walking on the EDGE of exciting changes in your life. Your life is exploding with possibilities! Whether you are in school or working, single or married, this is the time to pursue your dreams. You have the ability to powerfully impact your world by discovering, developing, and using your God-given talents. What an amazing time this is! Never again will you experience so much growth and so many changes in such a short period of time. We are honored to come alongside you during this time.
